10-01-2010
During the 65th anniversary of  the Battle of the Bulge, a new monument is dedicated in the Bastogne area. At Barriëre Hinck in Sainte Ode, the field hospital of the 326th MedCo was overrun by enemy forces. Those who survived this attack were taken POW. This monument is build to commemorate this brutal attack and to honor all the medics who fought during WWII and saved so many men.  The Men of Easy Company supported this project and want to thank all people who made this monument possible. Thanks to these kind of projects these important moments of history will never be forgotten.

65th anniversary
17-09-2009
On September 17, 1944, the first wave of Allied parachute troops landed in the Netherlands as part of the massive airborne assault codenamed Operation Market Garden.
Today, in the south of Holland, the celebrations of the 65 anniversary of their liberation started and will continue for more than a week.  Also this year a lot of veterans from all the allied forces came to Holland for this and among them also a few members of E-Company. Some of us came back for the second time this year, first Normandy and now Holland like they did 65 years ago. At that point, 65 years ago, they didn't know that they still had a though battle ahead of them, The Battle of the Bulge. At the weekend of December 12-13 Bastogne will
commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Maybe some of us make it again all the way. But for each of us counts - we will always remember -may the world never forget.

Flower Fund
27-05-2009

Each year on behalf of the Currahee Veterans of the 3rd Battalion 506th Airborne Infantry Association for Memorial Day, two remarkable people, John and Anne Colone of Pinkney, MI, arrange through their local florist for flowers and a card to be placed on the gravesites of men from that battalion who died in the Vietnam War.

It first started with a single grave site far away in Hawaii.

In 1998 when on a visit there, John had flowers placed on the grave of Don Marshall. 30 years earlier Don had died while trying to save John during the Battle of Cy-Tay, near Phan Thiet, RVN on February 19th, 1968. As well as an act of remembrance John was also hoping to establish contact with Don’s relatives – and it worked!

John then decided that he wanted to locate the gravesites of each member of his Platoon killed during that battle. That inspired his fellow veterans of the 3-506th.

There is no general registration of the gravesites of those who died in Vietnam.

The desire of the survivors of the 3-506th to establish contact with the relatives of those of their fellow troopers who were Killed In Action has become a mission in itself.

The result is that now each Memorial Day flowers and a card are left on the gravesites of over 170 men of the 3-506th who died in Battle.

The Flower Fund of the Association is a major financial undertaking which benefits from the generosity of donations from many sources and is underwritten by John and Anne. The aim is that one day every gravesite will have been located so that flowers can be placed there on Memorial Day – no one is forgotten.

The Currahee motto means – “Stands Alone”. The men of the 3-506th wear their Currahee badge with pride. They stood as one in Vietnam and today “Stand Together” as one, again and always.

Dedication Normandy monument
14-06-2008

Today we dedicated the new Easy Company monument at Brecourt Manor in Ste Marie du Mont, Normandy France in the presence of Herb Suerth, Ed Shames and Bill Maynard. Unfortunately Forrest Guth and Buck Taylor couldn’t make it at the last moment. The middle plaque shows the drawing of Burton 'Pat' Christenson, E-Co veteran. On the top of the middle plaque are 25 bronze stars which represent the 25 KIA’s of E-Company during  Operation Overlord. The both side plaques carry the names of the men who were KIA. We want to thank Jake Powers for providing us with all the correct names, service numbers and dates.  Next to the monument there is an information table on which an overview is given of the E-Company actions during Operation Overlord and more specific the part of E-Company in the Brecourt attack. Christopher J. Anderson wrote the text on the information table that is based on the recount Bill Guarnere wrote for this monument.  A special thanks to Mr. Charles de Vallavieille, owner of Brecourt Manor, who gave permission to build this monument on his land and for being the director of the ceremony. With this monument we are one step closer to accomplishing our goal: To honor our dead in all ways possible; Building of E-Company monuments on the historical battlefields where our brothers fell “ Pictures of the ceremony will be added to the gallery soon.

New monument in Normandy
03-06-2008

Saturday the 14th of June at 14.00 the Men of Easy Company will dedicate, in the presence of a few veterans,  their new monument at Brecourt Manor in Ste-Marie du Mont, Normandy France. The Normandy monument will mention the names of the soldiers who were killed in action during Operation Overlord. With this monument we are one step closer to accomplish our goal to remember all our KIA’s nearby the original battlefields.  Thanks to the help of Mr. Charles De Vallavieille of Brecourt Manor and with specials thanks to Jake Powers and Chris Anderson, the Normandy monument will have its own historical value at a for us important historical location. After the dedication we will share the photos of the construction and dedication of this monument in the gallery of our website.
